What a Lause program is
A Lause document states rules in English. Data supplies facts; a question asks what follows from those rules and facts.
The document
“orders” is the plural of “order”.
If an order is paid and it is packed, it is shippable.
If an order is digital, it is shippable.
The first sentence teaches the plural. The other sentences give two sufficient conditions for an order to be shippable. The word it refers to the order.
These examples use defined sentence forms. Curly quotation marks name words; periods end sentences. Later examples introduce negative conditions, closed reasons and backticks for file names.
The data
orders.csv
thing,kind
O1,order
O1,paid
O1,packed
O2,order
O2,digital
O3,order
Each row says that one thing is of one kind. The header names the fields; it counts as line 1 when an answer cites a row.
The question
Which orders are shippable?
The answer
answer: Of the 3 orders, shippable: O1 (by sentence 2, and orders.csv lines 2, 3 and 4) and O2 (by sentence 3, and orders.csv lines 5 and 6). The document does not say of O3. None is known not shippable.
standing: bounded
basis: document sha256:7b4414ff…; orders.csv: 6 rows, sha256:e20919cb…; sha256:a0975899…: “orders” is the plural of “order”.; sha256:e831481a…: If an order is paid and it is packed, it is shippable.; sha256:ef1b98e3…: If an order is digital, it is shippable.; reader: sha256:dbd3a49d…; orders.csv: true; ; orders.csv: thing, kind; sentence 1: “orders” is the plural of “order”.; sentence 2: If an order is paid and it is packed, it is shippable.; sentence 3: If an order is digital, it is shippable.; data: 6 rows told from 1 file; the program closed and checked: 32 atoms, the kernel accepted
receipt: sha256:ce544e87…
O1 meets sentence 2 through its paid and packed rows. O2 meets sentence 3 through its digital row. O3 has no row that meets either rule, but this does not establish that O3 is not shippable.
Receipt scope
This example carries a closure receipt: the kernel checked the closure certificate over the admitted program and data. The displayed list is computed from that accepted result. Lists, counts, totals and keyed values are not sealed in answer trails. The receipt does not certify every displayed projection or establish that the input facts are true outside this record.
Receipts distinguishes closure receipts from sealed answer trails.
